WOOF is dispatched from a central location to assure fast response from qualified teams. All requests for search service, regardless of location, must originate with an official agency (sheriff, national park, state park or police, etc.) and must go through the 24-hour central coordinator at (916) 845-8911 - California Office of Emergency Services (OES). Although WOOF operates independently as a private non-profit corporation, OES dispatches unit teams as a public service. WOOF teams are California OES type I wilderness, cadaver, trailing, avalanche, water, and FEMA type I disaster certified.
